The Rebel Drive In Of Yesteryear

Before the days of APD 40 or a four lane 25th Street in Cleveland, Tennessee, this is how the Rebel looked. Kay's Ice Cream was where the intersection of 25th and North Ocoee is now. See the Flag Pole (no flag). I remember helping my Dad dig the hole for the flag pole. If one searched around the back of the lot even today, you would find that old pole laying in the weeds. The antenna pole is on the right side and the flag pole on the left. The antenna pole was used for a radio that my Dad used in his work with the local Rescue Squad. Cleveland Fire Chief Bill Ragsdale stood there and chatted with my Dad while we worked on getting that pole up.
