New Story

I worked as a curb boy for sometime at the Rebel Drive In. I attended Bradley High School between 1974 & 1976 and went to work right after school serving food to the people in their cars and cleaning up the parking lot after closing. I can not help but smile when I remember those days of muscle cars, eight track tapes, bellbottoms, and swimming at the “blue holes”.

I think the manager’s name at the time was Gary, I don’t remember his last name. I have often thought of Gary and hope he is well. I have since graduated high school and college, got married and have a child of my own. I would like to say hello to the current curb boy or girl. Carry on, carry on.

Please let me know when you are reopening. This was one of my favorite places of all time and I miss you guys. My best friend's 50th birthday is coming up and we would love nothing better that to surprise her with a "50s style party at her favorite restaurant"

My mother actually worked at the Rebel Drive-In when I was about 5 yrs old in Chattanooga and we have always loved the place.

Thanks for your reply

Sure you can put my letter on your web site. I found your web site because originally i was looking to see of maybe you were opened under another name and I was trying to search by The Famous Lotta Burger but I did not get any results with that so I finally typed in The rebel Drive In Restaurant and it came up.

Thanks for emailing me back my family and I will sure enjoy to coming back to our favorite place for The Famous Lotta Burger  and onion rings. Can't wait to see you.

Thanks,

And Another:

Hi. I don't know if your remember me or not, I am Carlin Stewart. Anyways, I was looking at some old newspaper articles that I guess my mom had cut out it is an article about the Rebel I guess it was right before the remodeling, it has a lot of photos of the very old crew, Granny, David your Dad and you also and some of the waitresses. I could scan them and e-mail them to you if interested.

I remember my days at the Rebel and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Started out picking up trash on the curb on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Met a lot of interesting folks that's for sure. Well better go it is great you all have a web site to keep the memories alive. Two of my sister-in-laws came from the Rebel, and it paid for my first three cars, remember I bought the green Century those were the days I even drove my very first car there in the parking lot it was Margaret Ownby's little Vega,

I got to stop could go on all night. You all take care.

Carlin
