Of all the things that the Rebel served, your chili was the best. I used to
get the same bowl of chili from my aunt's restaurant at the corner of Broad
and ___ St across the street from Stampers back in the 1930s. You could get
a hamburger, a bowl of chili and a cup of coffee for 25 cents back then.

But now that you are gone, I can't find that chili anywhere. I am told that
it was canned and that Cookes Food Store has it.

  Is this true?  Hybie

Note: Our Chili was homemade, not from a store or can...Thanks

I am very much interested in getting a source of your chili regardless from which it may come. Please?

Nothing would be more welcome than a reopening of The Rebel. Dinner there was a Friday Night experience for my parents and us for many years. When Dad and Mother could not get out of the car to go inside, we would eat as a family in your parking lot. I know that sounds rather weird, but nevertheless, it is true.

I look forward to your becoming one of Cleveland's excellent places for stopping and enjoying the moment.

Hybie

PS. And, you were one of two places where we were always sure the coffee would be fresh.

Another Letter

Hi, my name is Paula, and I am 34 years old. I remember my Granny and Papaw, and I would go out to eat on Friday nights, and we would go to the Rebel. It was hard to choose between the "Pinto beans, and cornbread, with a big slice of onion, or the Lottaburger. Everything was always good, hot and fresh. Looking back Friday meant...Rebel, and Granny and Papaw playing Rook at their life long friends house. Sweet memories, when I think about the Rebel, it reminds me of care free days of my childhood, and all the special times spent with my Grandparents. The Rebel is closed now, and my Granny is gone, but we all still have our memories don't we? Thank You Rebel, Paula

And, Another Letter

We would love to have a place in town where we could get a lottaburger. The special sauce is great, and we miss it tremendously. Please let me know if you do open a place like that! My family would love it. We were very sad to see the Rebel close. We rushed in during the final weeks to get our last taste of such wonderful burgers. We also bought a T-shirt to remind us of all the great food and good times we had while eating there. The internet sales idea would be good. But, I don't buy over the internet. I would hope if you do that, there would be a local number and address to contact for orders. I personally would prefer a local restaurant where I could go get a hot off the grill lottaburger. Please keep me updated! And, thanks for giving us such wonderful food in Cleveland for so many years. We really do appreciate that! And remember, we miss you very much!!!!!! Janice Stephenson
