Through the Years

Does She Know

Remember When

Does She know?

Does she know the daisies are sprouting free?

Does she know the pompous grass is green?

Oh, the sink would make her sigh, does she know the clothes are piling high?

Socks unmatched no towels to fold she helps our son, put love on hold

The smell of greens, not in the air, no movie to watch no clothes to wear

Her room is closed, computer down, the home is empty, no Dar be found

The farmland amber like bees from a hive, the red bud so dead has come alive

Ash hangs thick on the plant from her Dad,

all think of her with hearts turned glad

The wisteria begging for something to climb, the carports a mess, no wife to find

I turn around which way to go, pick up a little, its time to mow?

I turn again a puzzled path, say a prayer, I’ll take bath

My keys I found, the Black fox sounds, kids in the park,

Charlie’s truck at dark

The phone ringing, The dryer churning, the house is cold,

my heart is burning

The doors propped open against her will, my heart is empty hers to fill

While his wife in life of shame, my wife nurtures with gifts of fame

Pick up the floor, lock the door, read the Word, my heart is sore

I will see my Dar, though I don’t know how

Does She know this solemn vow?
